Bárbara Assis Pacheco
(Lisbon, 1973) She lives and woks in Lisbon.
After completing her studies in Architecture in 1997 (Faculdade de Arquitectura at the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa), Bárbara Assis Pacheco attended the Drawing course and the Advanced Course in Visual Arts at Ar.Co, Lisbon. She graduated in Philosophy (Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa) and, in 2005, she attended the first photography course of the Gulbenkian Programme on Creativity and Artistic Creation, at Centro de Arte Moderna, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon. She is co-founder of the artist collective “Doze” (Twelve), which she is still part of. In 2007 she participates in the artistic residency "O sítio das artes", at Centro de Arte Moderna, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
She has exhibited regularly since 1997 in group shows in various institutions, of special note are the Arpad Szenes - Vieira da Silva Foundation, the Centro Cultural de Belém, in Lisbon and the Maus Hábitos space, in Oporto. In 2002 she held her first solo exhibition at Sala do Veado, Lisbon. She won two first prizes, in 1998 and 2003.
Her work is represented in several private and public collections, such as the collection of the Centro de Arte Moderna of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the collection of the Banque Privée de Rothschild Europe, in Lisbon.
