Joana Craveiro

(Lisbon, 1974). She lives and works in Lisbon.

Actress, playwright, co-founder and artistic director of the Lisbon-based theatre collective Teatro do Vestido, Joana Craveiro finished her Master of Drama at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow in 2004. She graduated in Anthropology by Universidade Nova de Lisboa, FCHS, she taught acting between 2004 and 2006 at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, Lisbon, and, in 2004, at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. In the same year she is awarded with the Avrom Greenbaum Prize for Directing by the same institution.

In 2006 she attends de 2nd edition of Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation's direction program, coordinated by professor Alexander Kelly from the company Third Angel. In 2003, in Scotland she is Assistant for direction to Graham Eatough, at Suspect Culture Theatre Company. As playwright she worked with different creators. Since October 2006 she directs, in association with other members of the company Teatro do Vestido, the educational project Zonas.
